Drunk raid ends badly

SMASHING his way into a Stanthorpe doctor's surgery while drunk didn't work out well for Anthony Stephen Rawson.

Rawson cut himself on the broken glass, left blood and fingerprints at the scene and all that he managed to steal was a grand total of $51.50.

The 44-year-old told Hervey Bay Magistrates Court he was so drunk at the time he couldn't remember the details of the crime in October.

Prosecutor Sergeant Michael Quirk said Rawson had smashed a front glass window of the medical clinic.

Once inside, he trashed a number of rooms and made an unsuccessful attempt to break into a drug cabinet.

In court, it was revealed Rawson had numerous convictions including the theft of $13,000 worth of goods.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell placed Rawson on 18 months probation and ordered him to pay $51.50 restitution.
