Drunken mum punches security guard in the face

A NURSING student punched a female security guard in the face at a Gympie pub when she was told to leave the venue, Gympie Magistrates Court has heard.

Mother-of-two Tahlia Elizabeth Williams had been drinking heavily the night of November 2 when she was evicted from Billy's Hotel after getting into an argument with another patron.

As Williams was being escorted out of the venue by security she fell to the ground and grabbed on to the door frame and wouldn't let go.

The court heard that as security tried to pull her away from the doorway she swung a punch into the face of a female security officer.

Police arrived shortly after and arrested Williams, who went on to stomp on a police officer's foot and attempt to swing another punch while at the charge counter of Gympie Police Station.

Williams' defiance continued when she refused to turn her head for a standard watch house photograph. Eventually police had to hold her head in place for the photo.

The court heard from her defence lawyer Patrick Horgan that Williams was suffering after the loss of her mother less than two weeks before the November 2 offences.

He said the uncharacteristic charges were the result of William's "heavy drinking session".

She pleaded guilty to assaulting and obstructing police and to creating a disturbance in licensed premises.

She was placed on a six-month good behaviour bond with a hefty $1200 recognisance and no conviction recorded.
