Duo shares victory spoils
WARWICK pair Matt Carey and Mark Ferdinand have played in three successive wins for South West Thunder in the under-20 National Premier League to put their team in with a finals chance.
After a strong start to the season which put the Thunder in the top-two, the team had a poor mid-season to drop out of the four, but is storming home.
Thunder has a bye this week and plays Moreton Bay in its final fixture game next weekend in Toowoomba.
The South West side is currently fifth and will make the finals if it wins its last game and Brisbane City goes down to a top-two team.
Carey has been playing on the left wing and scored a goal last month against Western Pride.
Ferdinand is on the right wing for the South West Thunder.
Carey has struggled with a back injury this season, but has missed only one game.
"I have been reasonably happy with my form. I have learnt a fair bit from coach Chris Watt. Mark has returned from a broken toe and will be one of our key players against Moreton Bay," Carey said.
The National Premier League U20 finals start on the August 31-September 1 weekend.
