Music lovers invited to support a good cause
MUSIC lovers from across the Southern Downs are invited to enjoy a family night out while raising money for a life-saving cause this Saturday.
The event is set to feature a wide variety of live music and raffles for a family-friendly night of entertainment.
Funds raised from the event are being donated to the Cancer Council of Australia for the prostate cancer cause.
The fundraiser has been organised by Shane Spies and Tony Heffernan, the duo behind the band Wanted Dead or Alive.
Mr Spies said the cause was personal, with both men having family or friends affected by prostate cancer.
"We do a lot of charity work as a duo, and just got in touch with the other bands we knew so there would be a range of different music on offer," he said.
The fundraiser is set to kick off at 3pm at the Warwick Cowboys clubhouse.
Live entertainment by local talent includes the line-dancing Renegade Hustlers and bands A2B, The Shades and The Vellacott Trio each performing in half-hour segments.
Feature band Wanted Dead or Alive is then expected to perform from about 7pm to 10pm, playing a variety of music from country to rock.
The organisers said it was great to see local businesses and groups supporting the cause.
The Warwick men said Carey Brothers Meats was supplying the meat for a barbecue, and Warwick Cowboys rugby league club had kindly donated the use of its facilities for the event.
The barbecue will start at 5.30pm with a tickets for a multi-draw raffle sold throughout the evening.
Raffle prizes have been donated by local businesses.
Mr Spies said as well as the music there would be barbecue, bar facilities, face painting, fairy floss and snow cones available.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
