Dux happy with OP2 score

WHILE most children were enjoying their Saturday sleep-in, Jacob O'Dea and hundreds of other high school graduates were up at the crack of dawn, logging on to their computers.

They were not rushing to connect with the online social world or watch the latest clips on YouTube.

These students were logging on to discover their OP scores, the grade they had spent the past two years working towards.

When Jacob typed in his log-in and password and saw a two staring back at him, he was pleased.

Jacob's high score was achieved through great marks at school and an A on the QCS exam.

"I was hoping for anything above a five," Jacob said.

"I'm very happy."

Jacob, the dux of Warwick State High School this year, is not the only smart cookie in his family.

His grandfather, Peter Mikkelsen was dux of Scots PGC College many years ago.

Jacob plans to do accounting, chasing a business career.

"I'm going to do a bachelor of Business at QUT," he said.
