Easter in the bush around Warwick
THERE was plenty of traffic on the roads at Easter and a large crowd at the first polocrosse carnival of the season at Morgan Park.
One player from Western Australia was in town for the Shell Cup playing with the Sydney team in 500 players.
Polocrosse is one sport where you can turn up at a carnival and go into a pool and be allocated to a team from another club.
The Rock Swap has been part of the Easter landscape in Warwick for as long as I can remember.
The crowds flock to the Warwick Showgrounds and they come from everywhere.
If there is one thing you learn as a reporter, it is that most people have interests and you don't see them all at the footy, the art gallery or the town hall.
If people have a dream or an interest, travelling hundreds of kilometres is not a problem.
There were large attendances at many of the church services in the region with people thinking about the real meaning of Easter, the reason we do have a four-day long weekend.
I don't like big time sport on Good Friday but if the crowds support it and more importantly for the bean counters, if the television networks want it, there will always be sport on Good Friday.
Please, not on Christmas day.
