Eastern Suburbs going strong as finals approach in WDJRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Eastern Suburbs Junior Rugby League under-14 side is in the running for a top-four spot in the 2018 Warwick and District competition.

"Dave and Nicki Ammenhauser are the joint coaches/trainers of the under-14 side along with Cowboys player Jordyn Hodgen,” club president Darren Hart said.

On Saturday, Eastern Suburbs had an easy U14 win against the MIT Jets at Suburbs Oval in Warwick.

This Saturday, Suburbs host Wattles in grades from under-7 to under 16 and the week after, Suburbs will be at home to Goondiwindi.

Suburbs will play Border in Tenterfield in the last round in mid August. Finals are played from U12 to U16s.

Hart is upbeat about the success of the Suburbs club this season.

"We have 170 players and are fielding in all grades except U14 girls. All our girls are in our U16 side,” he said.

First games at Eastern Suburbs Oval on the next two Saturday from 8.30am.

"We have two teams in the under-7 grade under the coaching of Neil Parfitt, Aloma Lancaster and Crystal Symond,” he said.

"The club will have a colour day with our presentations.”
