Eastwell flies Warwick flag in rodeo roping and is going for gold this afternoon

RODEO: Warwick rider Brock Eastwell is eyeing off the possibility of a win in the average at the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals at the Warwick Showgrounds this afternoon.

After starting with a second behind his brother Mitch in the rope and tie on Thursday night, Brock just missed a place on Friday before winning with 9.3 seconds on Saturday night.

Ranked 15th going into the finals, Brock said he didn't give himself a chance to win the title with only one round to go.

"I am aiming to win the average,” he said.

To win the average, Brock needs another catch in round 4 and the lowest time of all cowboys who have snared four head in the national finals.

He is riding his horse Del Rio and said he and brother Mitch had an extra practice at lunchtime Saturday before round 3.

After success this weekend, Brock has already said he plans to compete in more APRA rodeos next season to boost his prizemoney going into the national finals which will also boost his title chances.
