Easy win for the Redbacks in Condamine Cup

CRICKET: New team Redbacks continue to impress in Condamine Cup Warwick cricket under the inspirational leadership of Tyhe Clarkson.

Yesterday, their chance to finish in the top-four and play off in the A-grade finals firmed after a nine-wicket win against Allora.

Batting first, Allora scored 121 with openers Aaron Vietheer, 26, and Gavan Scheiwe, 30, adding 32 for the first wicket. After Vietheer was dismissed, it was downhill for the Allora batting.

One of the shots of the Allora innings was by Nick Goltz who landed a ball on top of the shade cloth in front of the clubhouse. He hit one six in 19.

Morgan Gilchrist was the best Redbacks bowler with 3-19 off five overs.

Opening bowlers Sam Waetford (3-20 off 7.3 overs) and Shayne Watson (2-39 off eight overs) made sure Allora never recovered after the first wicket fell.

Clarkson was unbeaten on 55, Jamie Saunders made 36 not out and Kerin Politch, 21, as Redbacks scored 1-122 to win with 17 overs to spare.

Watson took three catches for the winners, catching the No.6, No.7 and No.8 batsmen.
