Eels sign duo to new contracts
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Eels have had a busy past 24 hours, with two big re-signings sure to give Parramatta fans a spring in their step going into the Christmas period.
Just a matter of hours after announcing that promising young utility Clinton Gutherson had been locked up on a deal that will keep him with the club until the end of the 2019 season, the Eels struck again, with skipper Tim Mannah extending his deal for a further two years.
With many of the game's biggest-name players coming off contract at the end of the 2017 season, the double signing puts the Eels in a stronger position at the negotiation table as they look to build a premiership side under Brad Arthur.
Mannah is a chance of joining the 200 club for Parramatta in 2017 and, having represented NSW in four State of Origin games, is one of the club's most highly regarded veterans.
His leadership has been crucial in a dark period for the club and Arthur was delighted to be able to count on his presence in the side until the end of the 2019 season.
"Tim's contribution to the team and to the club over the last eight years can never be undervalued,” Arthur said.
"His level of experience and commitment to Parramatta will continue to help guide and develop the next generation of players in our club.”
