IF YOU'RE a smoker heading to the Ekka this week you might want to think about where the showground exits are.
This year the Royal Queensland Show has imposed a smoking ban on the showgrounds.
Smokers will have to leave the grounds to light up in designated smoking areas.
Earlier this year, Queensland's Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young threw her support before the show's decision to provide visitors with a smoke-free environment.
Dr Young said Queensland Health was pleased to be working with the RNA to create a smoke-free Ekka for the health and wellbeing of all patrons.
"For the first time this year, designated smoking areas will no longer be available within the showgrounds precinct," she said.
"Visitors attending the Ekka who wish to smoke will need to leave the showgrounds to access the offsite smoking areas.
"These changes are the latest step in a series of moves towards a smoke-free Queensland."
