Elderly man cut from car

FIRE crews used the jaws of life to free a trapped driver after he was involved in an crash in West Warwick late yesterday afternoon.

Two Queensland Fire and Rescue crews, as well as ambulance crews and Warwick police officers, attended the scene of the two-vehicle crash at 4.05pm at the corner of George and Pratten sts.

Cutting equipment was used to pop the door from one car to free the trapped elderly male driver.

He was transported by ambulance to Warwick Hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

Initial reports suggested that the driver of one of the vehicles, a Holden Commodore, had fled from the scene of the accident, but a Warwick Police spokeswoman was later unable to confirm if this had taken place and if police were attempting to locate the person.

Both cars had to be towed away from the scene.

Queensland Fire and Rescue personnel stayed until 5pm, after they cleaned up the area.
