Elderly man dropped off by bus just before being hit by car

A MAROOCHYDORE RSL courtesy bus had dropped an elderly man at the corner of a residential street minutes before he was hit by a car and killed yesterday.

A car driven by an 82-year-old woman struck the 90-year-old man in the west-bound lane while he was crossing Goonawarra Dr about 5.15pm.

An off-duty paramedic and doctor at the scene kept the man alive until emergency services arrived a short time later.

He died in the ambulance on the way to Nambour General Hospital.

The female driver of the vehicle was not physically injured.

The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
