Elders giving NAIDOC a hand with a morning tea
A MORNING tea was held at Williams Hall yesterday for the Elders of the community to unite and celebrate NAIDOC.
Police Liaison Officer Mandy Bahr organised the Waringh Waringh morning tea with the Githabul community.
Waringh Waringh are the Githabul words for cold.
The community served damper, soup and cakes to the Elders of Warwick.
"It's all part of NAIDOC week, so we'd like to honour the Elders," Officer Bahr said.
"We're a little community group, open to everyone and we just want to get out there in the community."
Officer Bahr has run NAIDOC events in Warwick for the past 20 years.
The Stylists from the Country Music Club performed free of charge for the special morning tea.
Michael Billsborough and Trevor Springate from Road Riders for Jesus also attended the event.
"We're here for the community; I think it's a great thing," Mr Springate said.
