ELECTION: First time voters hit the polls in Warwick

WHEN you turn 18, there are a few things to tick off the bucket list.

Having your first beer and finishing high school are two major ones.

Today, many residents of Warwick representing our future claimed another milestone, voting for the first time.

One of those new faces at the poll was Cooper Weldon, as he put his democratic rights to use for the first time.

Mr Weldon said it was good to finally have his voice heard.

"I can knock it off the bucket list, and I feel like I've had my say.

"It's good to know we do have a say in something, especially in parliament.

"I heard about One Nation, and I would like to see Pauline Hanson as our eventual Prime Minister.

"I want someone that looks after regional Queensland.”

Mr Weldon said the process of voting wasn't as tough as he anticipated.

"I learnt how to vote in school and it was complicated,” he said.

"But I came here today and it wasn't as bad as I thought.”

Mother Helen Weldon said she would also opt away from the ALP and LNP.

"It takes generations to flick the two major parties,” she said.

"It has taken years, but people are starting to go for indpendents and different parties.”
