ELECTION: Southern Downs candidates out in the community
THE last morning of pre-polling saw a number of candidates take to the Warwick streets to win over voters.
Joel Richters (ALP), Rob Mackenzie (Independent), Josh Coyne (One Nation) and Antonia van Geuns (Greens) were stationed out the fornt of the pre-polling booth on 56A Palmerin St.
Despite stereotypes of candidates in battle with each other, all four were in good spirits, sharing a laugh on a bright Warwick morning.
Mr Richters said it was a good chance for voters to view candidates.
"It's important we are here,” Mr Richters said.
"People have the chance to have a good look at who the candidates are and what they stand for.”
Mr Mackenzie said it was a good chance to communicate with voters.
"It's a good opportunity, as there is plenty of foot traffic in Warwick, and the biggest centre in the electorate,” Mr Mackenzie said.
"People can come down, say g'day and have a chat.”
Mr Coyne said it was important for people to meet candidates.
"It's nice to meet and greet people here,” Mr Coyne said.
"People want to see your face.”
Ms van Geuns said getting out in the community was a big part of her party's stance.
"It gives the community a chance to meet me,” Ms van Geuns said.
"A lot of the Greens platforms are about community involvement.”
Liberal National candidate James Lister also made an appearance at the polling booth later in the morning.
