Elite riders saddle up

TOWNSVILLE rider Chris Klem is one of the favourites for the Queensland Road Cycling Championships in the Warwick, Swan Creek and Freestone area this weekend.

Klem is one of 41 riders in the elite class. He won the recent Gold Fever Le Tour event in North Queensland.

Chris Pryor is another top rider coming to Warwick.

He competes in the Fly V team in the national road series.

There are seven riders in elite women from as far as Bundaberg and Rockhampton.

Masters riders will compete in 10 classes on Saturday. Four waves of masters riders will start at 9am and another four s at 11am.

The elite riders will compete on Sunday along with under-23 and U19 riders from 9am.

The 30km course is from Swan Creek Hall, along Jack Smith’s Gully Rd, Freestone Creek Rd, Freestone Rd, East St and Yangan Rd back to the hall.

The elite riders will do the longest distance, 150km, down to the shortest distance, 60km, for the oldest of the masters, 60km.
