WATCH: Elderly woman 'critical' after two-car crash
UPDATE: AN ELDERLY woman is in a critical but stable condition in a Brisbane hospital after a serious two-vehicle crash south of Pittsworth.
The Leyburn woman, 86, was initially trapped by her legs in a white sedan involved in the crash at Felton South about 9.10am yesterday.
Four Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to the scene on Clifton Pittsworth Rd about 20km from Pittsworth to help free the woman pinned inside the vehicle.
A QFES spokeswoman said the woman was "seriously entrapped" with firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment to free her from the vehicle.
She was released about 10.30am when Queensland Ambulance paramedics were able to assess and stabilise her injuries.
The RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was tasked to the scene and landed on the roadway to airlift the woman to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
She was transported in a critical but stable condition.
Another woman, 26, also from Leyburn, driving a red ute suffered back and neck injuries and was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
A baby girl who was in the ute, was not seriously injured in the crash.
The crash closed the roadway for more than an hour with tow trucks clearing the scene by noon.
A police spokeswoman said the Forensic Crash Unit had been tasked to investigate the scene.
EARLIER, 10.10AM: An elderly woman has suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash southwest of Toowoomba.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the woman, aged in her 80s, was initially entrapped in one of the vehicles which collided near the intersection of Felton Terrace and Clifton-Pittsworth Rd just after 9.10am.
Paramedics reported the woman had suffered a "significant leg injury" and was expected to be airlifted to hospital.
The RACQ Lifeflight helicopter has been tasked to the scene.
A woman in her 20s suffered back and neck pain in the collision while a third patient, a young girl, is believed to have escaped uninsured.
EARLIER, 9.30AM: Paramedics are assessing three people involved in a two-vehicle crash at Pittsworth.
Initial reports indicate the vehicles collided at the intersection of Felton Terrace and Clifton-Pittsworth Rd just after 9.10am.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said potentially three people were injured with crews assessing patients on scene.
One person is believed to be entrapped in one of the vehicles.
