Truck driver to be airlifted to Brisbane after Taroom crash

8.30am: THE driver of a truck that crashed into a tree on the Leichhardt Highway near Taroom this morning has been airlifted to Brisbane.

The Queensland Ambulance Service tweeted moments ago that the 47-year-old man has an abdominal injury and possible spinal injuries.

He was taken to Taroom Airport to be airlifted by the Royal Flying Doctors Services.

7.10am: EMERGENCY services are a the scene of a truck crash on the Leichhardt Highway.

The Queensland Ambulance ‏tweeted moments ago that the truck had crashed into a tree.

Emergency services were called to the accident near Taroom at 5.40am.

The driver is still trapped in the truck, according to the QAS tweet.
