England levels Twenty20 series

PAKISTAN-born leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed took his first international wickets for Australia, but it wasn't enough to prevent England from drawing the two-match Twenty20 series in Durham.

Ahmed, wicketless on debut in the first game in Southampton last week, took three for 25, in England's 27-run victory.

The host batted first and scored five for 195 as opener Alex Hales (94) fell agonisingly short of recording the first T20 hundred by an England player for the second time after his 99 against West Indies last year.

Man-of-the-match Hales (pictured) and Michael Lumb (43) shared an opening stand of 111 which equalled England's best for any wicket against Australia in a T20 international.

The Brisbane Heat-bound Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen put on 111 for the second wicket in England's 2010 World Twenty20 final win over Australia.

Opener David Warner smashed 52 off 43 balls in reply before the tourists collapsed from three for 111 to finish on nine for 168.
