Gallery courtyard to turn into bustling live music hub
A COLOURFUL and cosy atmosphere will greet the thousands of people expected to wander through Jazz at the Gallery this weekend.
The Warwick Art Gallery courtyard will be transformed into a live music hub with jazz bands and artisan market stalls filling the space.
A wine bar will be a new feature at the event this year, offering four types of wine from the Queensland College of Wine Tourism at Stanthorpe.
The bar will be one of about 16stalls open for browsing, offering everything from handmade jewellery, knitted items and felt hats to handmade clothing.
Gallery assistant Loretta Grayson said visitors could easily spend the whole day enjoying the atmosphere.
"By the time you've enjoyed the markets, enjoyed the music and viewed the exhibitions, there's plenty to do in this little area," she said.
"It's an event the stallholders keep coming back to because they love it."
The Monica Judd Jazz Group and Body & Soul will perform for the crowd.
Gallery director Karina Devine said the event had been run for about five years and was a way for the gallery to offer quality jazz to visitors.
"It's such a relaxed, chilled sound, which is perfect for a market," she said.
A major highlight of the event will also be the announcement of the winner of the tree jumper exhibition, which will be made at noon.
For those feeling peckish, the gallery volunteers will be running a fundraising barbecue to support children's art programs.
Jazz at the Gallery will run from 9.30am-2.30pm at Warwick Art Gallery, 49 Albion St.
The event is free to attend but bring money to buy goods and refreshments.
