EPL sides restore order in FA Cup

FOOTBALL: After a day of shocks in the FA Cup 24 hours earlier, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur restored order for the English Premier League clubs in the competition to move into the quarter-finals.

United had a 2-1 win at Championship strugglers Blackburn Rovers, while Spurs cruised past second-tier club Fulham at Craven Cottage 3-0.

Jose Mourinho will now take United back to his former club Chelsea in the last eight in a mouthwatering tie but his team did it the hard way, coming back from 1-0 down to eventually win through.

Mourinho, whose side beat St Etienne 3-0 in their Europa League clash last week, made several changes to his line-up.

The United boss eventually called on veteran Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to come off the bench and he came up trumps with the winning goal.

"You need to make as few mistakes as possible, every game in the FA Cup is like a final, there are so many results not going to the favourites. We respect everyone," Ibrahimovic said.

Spurs had no such problems at Fulham - a strong side easing past the Cottagers, with Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick.

Mauricio Pochettino's team will be wary of 2004 finalists Millwall in the last eight after the League One club defeated Leicester on Saturday, one of three EPL clubs it has beaten in this season's FA Cup.

Spurs will host Millwall, while Arsenal will entertain giant-killing Lincoln City if it gets past fellow non-league side Sutton United on Tuesday morning.

Manchester City will line-up against Middlesbrough in the quarter-finals if it gets past Huddersfield Town in their fifth-round replay.
