Erratic driver crushes roses in Warwick
UPDATE 4pm: A 29-year-old ,man was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road on Palmerin St today, before crossing the median strip and crushing roses.
Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn of the Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch said the man was also waving a meat cleaver in the car.
A staff member at Belle Vue Cafe, Eliza McNicol, said the man drove east down Palmerin St before crossing the median strip in front of the cafe.
He then reportedly turned right down Grafton St before returning and repeating the same route.
"It was pretty loud, you could hear when he was crossing over," Miss McNicol said.
"Nobody was hurt, just the roses."
Police were called to the scene about 2pm this afternoon and arrested the man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Greenethorpe man has been charged with a number of offences including dangerous driving, possession of weapons and possession of drugs.
Police are investigating whether intoxicating substances were a factor in the incident.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Warwick Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
INITIAL 2.30pm: A man driving erratically around Warwick has been nabbed by police this afternoon.
Police were called about the matter near West Warwick at about 2pm.
By about 2.25 officers had intercepted the man on Dragon St.
No charges have been laid at this stage and the man is assisting police.
