Erotic dreamers sleep on stomach

PEOPLE who sleep on their stomachs are more likely to have erotic dreams than those who snooze in different positions, a university study has found.

The link was discovered by researchers at Hong Kong's Shue Yan University through interviews with 670 students about the reoccurring themes in their dreams.

Researchers found the overwhelming majority of students who reported dreaming about sex were "stomach sleepers".

The study also found those who sleep on their fronts are more likely to dream about a secret or famous admirer.

According to News.com.au, researcher Calvin Kai-Ching Yu believes one of the reasons stomach sleepers have a sexier sleep is because they don't get as much oxygen face down which can result in the mind sending "confused messages".

"I believe that the brain during sleep is not at all totally detached from the external world, and stimuli, including those stemming from the environment, are probably incorporated into dream content more often than people observe or are aware of," Mr Kai-Ching Yu said.

"The unconscious brains of the dreamers try to make sense, and even make use of, the external stimuli.

"Three thirds of the students who took part in the study were female.

The findings were published in education journal Dreaming.
