MY COMMENT: Variety of interests make area vibrant
EVERYONE has a hobby, recreation or sport, well almost everyone.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to take some photos at the Travelling Country Music Club Christmas Function and the clubhouse at the Warwick Cowboys was packed.
I spotted three motor homes belonging to people enjoying a bit of our music as they travel the countryside.
Travelling Country is not the only music club in town.
There are at least three and all play their part in bringing people to town and boosting our economy.
It was a little bit quieter from a sports perspective at the weekend but things will hot up again this weekend with a national drag racing series meeting in Warwick.
One thing being a reporter teaches you is that most people have a hobby, recreation or sport - something which takes their focus off the rigors of everyday life.
The people I don't see at the footy I see at the pigeon racing, the fishing, the chook show, the country music, the rock swap, the opening of J and J, the list goes on.
Regular readers of my columns might be thinking I am going to talk about the role of volunteers.
They are right. We need every organisation which currently exists and more - and it can only happen if the volunteers step up year after year.
Don't be too critical of volunteers if you don't want to do the job yourself.
