BE IN it to win it: that's what Warwick newsagencies are telling punters ahead of the huge New Year's Eve $31 million Gold Lotto draw - and every buyer is hoping theirs is the winning ticket.

Mayfair Casket Agency owner Ross Ellis said there had been an influx in sales, and it seemed everyone wanted a slice of the pie.

"It's the biggest draw of the year," he said.

"People seem to be choosing the quickpick - that's where more money is won than anything else.

"The syndicates are also quite popular, they increase the chances of a win."

Warwick certainly has been lucky in big lotto draws previously, with Mr Ellis selling a winning ticket to a lucky local four years ago.

"That was for $5 million - he was quite calm about it actually. I think he split it with his family," Mr Ellis said.

Mr Ellis said if his was the winning ticket in this draw, he would use it to pay off bills and live a comfortable life.

Further up Palmerin St at Hynes Newsagency, director Peter Hyne said this lotto draw had been one of the biggest this year.

"The OzLotto got up to $90million though," he said.

"We've had people buying syndicates for the month to get a ticket in this big one."

Asked what his tips would be to help guarantee a chance, he said it was impossible to say.

"If I had a crystal ball it would be good," he said.

"They say if Jesus was still alive, he would have won big at least once if he put it in every weekend. Everyone wins each week."
