Police charge 25-year-old with murder in Collombet death
8PM: Police have charged a 25-year-old man with murder following investigations into the death of 21-year-old Sophie Louise Collombet at South Brisbane on March 27.
Ms Collombet's body was discovered at Kurilpa Park on March 28.
A 25-year-old man has been charged with one count each of murder, rape, deprivation of liberty and robbery.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
2.30PM: A man wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of French student Sophie Collombet has been extradited to Queensland.
Benjamin James Milward, 25, did not appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court today but magistrate Robert Walker authorised Queensland police to take him back to Brisbane.
Mr Milward left the court house in the back of a police vehicle as the drive back to Brisbane by Queensland police officers began.
He covered his head as the vehicle left Coffs Harbour police station.
2PM: The wait for legal representation has delayed the start of an extradition hearing against a man wanted for questioning over the murder of French student Sophie Collombet.
Benjamin James Milward, 25, has kept a large media throng waiting at Coffs Harbour Local Court after being arrested without incident by detectives walking down a street on Monday around 3pm.
Milward was identified on Monday afternoon as he shopped in a Coffs Harbour supermarket.
A NSW police spokesperson said officers in Coffs Harbour were aware Milward may have fled Queensland for the northern NSW town.
Milward was named as a person of interest in the murder of the 21-year-old French student in a South Brisbane park in a random attack late last month.
His arrest ended the search for the 25-year-old man who was last seen on CCTV footage leaving Bowen Hills train station in Brisbane's inner city following the attack.
