Experience shows in Warwick's volleyballs grand final
VOLLEYBALL: Reloaded and Deadwood made it back-to-back premierships in the 2017 Warwick Volleyball Association competition, after their season two victories.
Grand finals were held on Monday night at the John Muir Centre, with Reloaded taking out another mixed grand final win. They beat new team Saints in four sets (21-17, 17-21, 21-10, 21-12).
Missing their ace server Lesley Clayton, the team - made up of Marianne Clayton, Jason and Cody Skinner and Lasse Christensen - used their experience to defeat the Saints, which featured two of the competition's youngest players, Tiarna King and Kyarnee King-Taylor.
Clayton and Christensen also played in the men's grand final for Deadwood in their clash against Foursome. Experience was on show as Deadwood, led by Michael Kairouz, won three sets to two (21-12, 21-15, 20-22, 18-21, 21-11).
Foursome put up a great fight, with Blake Costello and Kerri Fitch playing well in a very entertaining game.
In the ladies' competition, Ball Busters went in as underdogs against season- one winners Grinners.
In a five-set match Ball Busters came out on top three sets to two (21-12, 21-14, 18-21, 17-21, 21-12).
Both teams took to the court with only three players but the network of Ainsley Cupitt, Emily Hoffman and Emma Lowe gave Ball Busters the win.
The 2018 season will begin late January and new teams of four in ladies and men or six in mixed are invited to join. For more information, head to the Warwick Volleyball Association Facebook page.
