Experienced coach helping out at Eastern Suburbs

COACH'S CORNER:

MARK Fowler has coached rugby league for the past 25 years at both school and club level.

He played A-grade for Millmerran/Institute and Oakey in the Toowoomba Rugby League competition before moving to Warwick in 2002 as a teacher at Warwick State High School.

A half, Fowler played eight seasons for the Warwick Cowboys across the grades.

Last year, he played in the International Legends of League game at Oakey.

This season he is assistant coach to Eastern Suburbs under-16 coach Aaron Fryer.

Fowler talks about his philosophy to coaching:

It is about getting as many kids into the game and enjoying the greatest game of all.

Aaron has done a lot of skill work with the U16s in the past month and I will be a strapper, water runner and motivator during games in the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League competition.

We have been doing a bit of fitness work.

Aaron pushes the idea of team - it is all for one and one for all in team sport.

Suburbs will be competitive in each game we play in the U16s this season.

Our numbers are pretty good but the club would welcome more players to training on Tuesday and Thursdays from 4.30pm.
