Facebook in a snow flurry
FACEBOOK-goers were in awe after Stanthorpe Border Post's Samantha Wantling posted this great photo taken by her husband Russell, as snow began to fall at Eukey yesterday.
While some were skeptical, Samantha posted: "Yes it is definitely snow. This is the view my husband has from his cheese factory at Eukey Highlands Cheese".
Here's what other Facebook users had to say:
Kent Coffman So strange to see snow...this time of year...here anyway! Reminds me that we are not alone in the universe.
Toni Somes Samantha Wantling that's so impressive! Pls let me know if it's still snowing tomorrow could be time for a drive south!
Linda Downs Listen up folks, speaking as a resident of Yorkshire, I can categorically state that there is nothing resembling snow in that picture.
Adrian Walker snow?? what snow?? where is it!! After dealing with 5 foot deep snow drifts all winter, it's easy to forget how little it takes to make headlines in aus! lol.
Kerrie Stewart That may be so @Linda but for us Queenslanders this is about as good as it gets so we are going to take it!
Monique Beach ^^^ @ Linda... it may not be exciting to you or resemble the snow that you Yorkies are used to but do realize that it's unusual for it to snow in some of these places that people are taking snaps of?
Kate Halloran We are virtually the only place in Qld to get snow . We are known as the Sunshine State. This is news!
Helen Brand Coming from New Zealand that's not snow. Its called JACK FROST. Still cold.
Nicole Morris Can't we just celebrate this exciting weather event for Queensland? Heaven knows we've had our fair share of frightening and awful weather over the last couple of years. My family is very excited that it's snowing so close to us.
Lorraine Locke frost is in the morning.....being in Stanthorpe working this morning the air was icy to Warwick..by lunch the rain was falling and thought that will be light snow next...is Snow to Qld the Sunshine State... can see it in the air in this photo.
Samantha Wantling Hi Janet Hefferan, Russell Wantling was busy making some cheese for this weekend's Snow Markets when he looked out and saw the snow.....What a beautiful part of the world Eukey/Granite Belt is.
Adrian Walker when was the last snow in Toowoomba? 1962 wasn't it or something?
Jamie Buzacott It snowed in Toowoomba quite heavily in '84, been a few light flurries since then but nothing of note
Marianne Irvine There was a flurry of something like snow about 6 years ago in Toowoomba - was quite bizarre, wasn't hail and was as cold as hell, and fell to the ground and we just looked at it in amazement - not what you want when you are trying to move a large wardrobe down from a highset house and you are trying to concentrate on that job and not look at snow-like stuff falling from the sky!!!!!
Cliff Halloran In 1984, It snowed heavily enough in Stanthorpe to cover everything and pile up in drifts. There were still patches of snow on the ground a week later and snowmen were still standing a week after that. There's no doubt that the picture is of snow flurries, but it's nothing like 1984...yet. Give it a week or so.
