Family can’t wait for new adopted brother
AFTER a gruelling 10-year adoption process, Christie Donaldson and her family will finally be able to meet their newest family member.
The Donaldsons - Christie, her husband Chris and their three children - received confirmation in March of their success in adopting a child from an orphanage in the Philippines.
For Christie it feels like a big weight has been lifted off her shoulders.
"We are already so in love with him and can't wait to bring him home and start our life together," she said.
"Our three kids are so
excited - they are just as eager as we are."
In coming months, the family will spend two weeks in the Philippines getting to know the five-year-old boy before bringing him home to a new life.
To celebrate their news, the Donaldsons have partnered with close friends, new owners of Choices Flooring Daniel and Robyn Kuhn, in a fundraising day for the orphanage.
Robyn told the Daily News their decision to host the fundraiser was purely out of friendship.
"Christie had the idea for the fundraiser - it's been one hell of a process for them," she said.
"We thought having a warehouse clearance and fundraiser on the same day would attract more people.
"The idea of having a jumping castle in the car park as well was just too good to give up."
From 10am tomorrow, the Choices car park will become a hive of activity with a bake sale, sausage sizzle, raffles and the jumping castle to raise money for the orphanage.
