Family escapes rollover on Warwick-Yangan Road
IT WAS a leisurely drive turned to lucky escape for Warwick man Rod Fischer and his two daughters Gabby and Sarah when their family car landed upside down on the side of the Warwick-Yangan Road.
On the way to visit his parents yesterday afternoon, Mr Fischer said the crash, which left his white Holden Frontera ruined, happened in a split second.
"I don't really know (how it happened); one wheel came off the side of the road and the next we were upside down," he said moments after the incident.
"We were hanging upside down for only 20 seconds, then we got out."
Mr Fischer speculated his tyre pressures may have been at fault.
"I can't say what happened though, I just checked to make sure we were all OK and here we are," he said.
Gabby, who was in the front seat of the vehicle, said she was just happy they were safe.
"We were driving and it just went to the side, slid then rolled a couple of times and it landed upside down," the 17-year-old said.
Still shaken the teenager said the seatbelts kept them in place when the car came to rest.
"We unclipped, I've never been in something like this before," she said.
An ambulance soon arrived on the scene to attend to those involved.
Both Mr Fischer and his daughters were unharmed in the incident.
