Family Fun day ahead of the 2017 season start
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Junior Rugby League is preparing for the new season and is hosting a family fun day to celebrate.
The fun day will take place on Saturday from 11am-1pm at Sullivan Oval.
Junior Rugby League president Lindsay Adams said anyone is welcome to join the fun.
"We're just trying to get everyone back in the thought process that footy is about to start,” he said.
"Officially we start the first weekend after Easter and some of the older teams are already training, so we're trying to get everyone thinking about footy and hopefully we'll encourage some new people to come along.”
The day will include a a range of free activities, including a mechanical bull, jumping castle and an inflatable gladiator arena.
NRL development officer Jim Stevens will also be there to run through different skills, which Adams said provides a come-and-try for those considering signing up.
"If there's anyone out there, even if they play other sports, they're more than welcome just to come up, play around and see if they like it,” he said. While season sign on is now completed online, Adams said help will be available to help those new to a team or having trouble signing on. A sausage sizzle will also be available for a small cost.
