Family love their cricket in Warwick competition

CRICKET: There are five Christensens in the Railway Hotel Rascals team from Allora and don't be surprised if there is a bit of family sledging.

"There is a bit of competition between the two branches of our family,” Jake Christensen said.

Brothers Neil and Ian admit they only play when needed.

"It is good to play with our sons,” Neil said.

Neil and sons Matthew and Paul are part of the Rascals team along with Ian and son Jake.

It wasn't always going to be cricket for the Christensens with Neil and Ian's parents Doug and Bev more involved in tennis and lawn bowls down the years.

Rascals captain Brad Johnson gets all the credit for introducing the boys to cricket when he spoke to them at Allora State School.

As for their best scores for the season, Neil has a best of 16 and Ian 10 when filling in.

Jake's best batting this season is 40. He took five wickets in an innings with his off spin last season but is doing a bit of keeping this season.

Matthew has a best of two wickets in an innings and 27 not out this season after making a 35 last season.

Paul can claim a best of 42 with the bat and 2-1 with the ball this season.

As for the result on Sunday, Rascals went down by 10 wickets to Maryvale but for the Christensens it is all about having a go.
