Bathurst winner burns rubber at Warwick karts
IF Ben Bargwanna wants a bit of advice on his career in motorsport, he needs to look no further than his dad, V8 driver Jason Bargwanna.
Father and son travelled from Melbourne to be at Sandy Creek Raceway as almost 200 drivers competed in the Rotax Pro Tour over three days.
Jason won Bathurst with Garth Tander in 2000, had two class wins at Bathurst and has won two New Zealand Touring Car Championships.
He was in Warwick with 14-year-old Ben who wants to one day be a professional driver.
It isn't all about winning with father and son happy with an 18th place in a field of 43 on Saturday.
"I am really happy with how Ben is going. This is our first year on the tour," he said.
"Karting is the perfect place to start a career in motorsport. There are drivers making a living out of karting and there is the chance to move to car racing."
Ben loves the adrenaline rush of the sport but the importance at age 14 according to his father is to "learn the discipline of racing".
