Fashion on show at Picnic Races
THIS Saturday sees the running of the 122nd Warwick Picnic Races and it’s going to be huge.
Kristen Doyle, of Warwick Turf Club, said she was hoping for 800 punters to be at the Allman Park track on Saturday.
“Gates open at 12pm, we’ve got five races organised and we have a brand new pavilion being built as we speak,” Mrs Doyle said.
“Entry to the picnic ground is $45 and is BYO food and drinks, so pack up a picnic and come along.
“We’ll have a jumping castle to entertain the kids, plenty of water stations and we’ll be cooking up a gourmet sausage sizzle in the afternoon and for those wanting to party on, we’ve got live music from 4.30pm until 9pm.”
The 2016 Fashions on the Field are being sponsored by Rose City Shoppingworld and marketing manager Louise de Lissa said the judging will happen across three categories.
“We’ll being looking for best dressed lady, best fascinator or hat and best dressed couple,” she said.
“We’re really lucky this year; we’ve got some great sponsors and some really terrific prizes for winners and runners-up.
“And this year for the first time we will be inviting people to self-nominate if they wish.
“The judges will then do a round of preliminary judging and 10 finalists will be chosen, who will then be judged in the final to find our overall winners.
“The fashion concious can head to the Warwick Turf Club website to check out the guidelines and criteria we’ve put that together to help racegoers, racewear has to resemble the season and that’s what we’ll be looking for.”
Children are also welcome to dress up for the day and will receive a goodie bag after a fashion showing.
