Fashionistas to take field at Allman Park

THE Warwick Picnic Races are back again, with plenty of fashionistas expected on field.

The Rose City Shoppingworld Fashions on the Field is one of the highlights of the Autumn race meet.

Marketing manager Louise de Lissa said judging was in three categories, with self-nominations welcomed and spotters scouting the best looks on the day.

“We’ll being looking for best dressed lady, best fascinator or hat, and best dressed couple,” she said.

“This time of year we’re seeing more ankle boots with stockings and kimono and wrap-around coats, as it gets a bit chilly in the afternoon.

“Women are mixing longer woollen skirts and dresses with a colour palette of dusty pinks, fawns, navy, and cream, and we’re also seeing a more suede, leather and knits.”

RSL Memorial Race Day Fashions on the Field winner Sarah Eastwell said an elegant yet comfortable outfit made a good race-day ensemble.

“I would go for something practical, particularly shoes because you’re walking around all day,” she said.

“It’s good to wear a fascinator and I picked a calf-length dress with florals, pale colours and navy – so something different for me that stood out.”
