Fastest growing schools on Southern Downs revealed
THE Southern Downs schools that are booming have been revealed.
An analysis of Federal Government data has revealed the Southern Downs region schools where student numbers have risen the most in the past five years.
Between 2013 and 2018, enrolment at Severnlea State School has increased by 173.9per cent, faster than any other school in the region.
The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority figures are the most up-to-date enrolment numbers that include all state and private schools nationally.
According to the latest public data that includes public and private schools, student numbers have grown from 23 to 63, the fastest growth in the region.
The second-fastest-growing school was Karara State School, where the student body increased by 100 between 2013 and 2018. Enrolment numbers grew from four in 2013 to eight in 2018.
Over those five years Warwick Christian College had the third-biggest enrolment boom in the area, with 63 more students in 2018 than in 2013 - a 55.4 per cent increase.

Karara State School: 100 per cent change
Warwick Christian College: 55.4 per cent change
Yangan State School: 54.8per cent change
Broadwater State School: 50per cent change
Assumption College: 37.2per cent change
Stanthorpe State High School: 26.6 per cent change
Applethorpe State School: 22.2 per cent change
Freestone State School: 17.4per cent change
Wallangarra State School: 16.9 per cent change.
