Federal funding boosts Killarney nursing home
KILLARNEY has secured four new aged care places and $325,000 in capital grants funding under the 2015 Aged Care Approvals Round.
Federal Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott said the places and grant funding would be delivered to Kadimah Nursing Home.
Mr Scott said the funding would make it easier for senior residents to stay in the rural community they loved.
"The Liberal National Coalition Government knows how important seniors are in our community and under the 2015 Aged Care Approvals Round, four new residential aged care places will be available at Kadimah," he said.
"These new places will be targeted to those who live in rural and remote areas and will also support those suffering from dementia.
"Kadimah will also receive $325,000 in capital grants funding following the conclusion of the 2015 ACAR.
"Seniors are the pillar of our community and the ACAR funding means these valuable community members can stay in their region and receive the care and support they need."
Under ACAR, Mr Scott said 38 places were to be delivered in the Darling Downs and south-west regions of his electorate.
"In the Maranoa, this means $2.358 million worth of investment into residential care places and $5.825 million invested in capital grants," he said.
"ACAR is a highly competitive process and each application is subject to rigorous assessment aimed at supporting service viability, reducing the compliance burden and increasing business flexibility.
"The Liberal National Coalition Government believes seniors want and deserve to have the support and care they need to live active and healthy lives and to continue to choose the aged care services they need."
The ACAR is the process that allocates funding for new Federal Government residential aged care and home care places and for capital grants each year.
