Festival set to inject a dash of Zen
CONFUCIUS says, "If one wants to become Zen, one must first get Jazzy," and who are we to argue with Confucius?
This year's Warwick Credit Union Stroll 'n' Swing next Saturday will come equipped with all sorts of Zen-themed goodies to help you on the path to Jumpers and Jazz enlightenment.
Because of overflowing crowds at previous festivals, the Palmerin St area between Fitzroy and Grafton Sts will now be closed on the Saturday (July 26) between the hours of 7am and 5pm to make way for the festival goodness.
Warwick taekwondo instructor Merv Colman said his students are looking forward to putting on a show next weekend as one of the many Zen-themed activities to be found on the main street.
"We will set up and stall and have periodic demonstrations throughout the day, hopefully we will do a bit on weaponry," he said.
With decades of experience in the martial art form Merv said the concept of Zen was all about finding peace with yourself.
"Its mind, body and soul, taekwondo helps to focus that understanding and teaches you no matter what the outcome, positive or negative, what you put in counts," he said.
"It will be great to show Warwick what we can do."
While you're exploring all the calming options on offer make sure you head on over to the Warwick Daily News stand to have some fun with Daily Dalmatian and the crew as we celebrate the paper's 150th birthday.
