Fierce bidding on auction items

TUG-OF-WAR style bidding at the 150th Mayoral Gala Charity Dinner Ball successfully pushed prices up at the charity auction.

Determined to claim the dinner for four at Shane Webcke’s Leyburn Hotel, Darren Eather entered a whopping $820 bid.

He said he would share the experience with a bus load of friends.

“It’s going to be more than four people there. I think I’ll take a bus load down and spend the night at the pub,” he said.

A joint tender by six individual bidders won them the coveted prize of Rupert’s Bar and Grill chef Grant Calvert for a night.

Craig and Stacey Armstrong, Warwick and Mel Fraser, Lachlan Campbell and Emma Channon put their heads together before hand to pool their resources and take out the prize.

Mr Armstrong, the group’s bidder, ended up going head-to-head with his uncle-in-law Ross Fraser, eventually claiming the package.

All proceeds from the charity auction will go towards the Warwick Dementia Support Group, Warwick Blue Care and Warwick domestic violence shelter.
