Finals spots on the line as Condy Cup heats up

CRICKET: With just three rounds to play, today's action from the Condamine Cup will have a big bearing on the finals.

Games in the Warwick Cricket Association have been staggered since the turn of the new year, with rain and the Australia Day carnival halting progress.

Heading into round 14, all seven teams are on the hunt for a finals spot, with only Maryvale guaranteed a place to date.

In a fortuitous turn of events, the top-placed team plays second, third plays fourth and fifth takes on sixth.

The Redbacks have a golden opportunity to push for a top-two finish when they take on Colts at Slade Park.

They sit just half a point behind second-placed Wheatvale, who have the unenviable task of taking on the ladder leaders.

The Colts will view this as a must-win game, as they can fall out of fourth spot with a loss today if results don't fall in their favour.

Kev Poole pulled out a knock of 83 last month, and his Colts will be looking for him to fire again.

Rascals and Sovereign are sitting outside the top four, and both need a win to keep their seasons alive.

Sovereign sits 7.5 points outside of the finals race.

In the Davis Shield, Warwick will head to Toowoomba following last week's wet weather.

The two sides will meet at Rockville Oval at 9.30am tomorrow.

Junior games will take place across Warwick tomorrow, with the U12 and U14 representative teams playing on Sunday against Western Downs.
