Man who pushed police officer hit with hefty fine

A 19-YEAR-OLD man was handed a hefty fine and 60 hours community service for pushing a police officer.

Luke Graham Donn was convicted in Warwick Magistrates Court yesterday.

The Daisy Hill man was arrested on May 14 after police were called to a street disturbance on Rose St.

Police found Donn intoxicated on the street, while a woman stood crying at a nearby house.

When police spoke to Donn he responded with violent language.

Officers attempted to arrest Donn, at which point he pushed one of the officers.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey told the court it was Donn's second offence of this nature.

"Third strike and I reckon you'll do time," Mr Manthey said. "Police aren't punching bags to put up with your s***."

Donn was fined $800 and sentenced to 60 hours community service.
