Fine fowls up for auction in Warwick

THERE will be plenty for poultry lovers to crow about this weekend, with hundreds of fowls to go under the hammer at the Warwick Showgrounds.

More than 150 lots will be auctioned off at the Warwick Poultry Club shed on Saturday morning.

Among the poultry up for grabs is a trio of rare French marans, a breed infamous for laying chocolate-coloured eggs.

Poultry Club treasurer Graham Gillam said it was shaping up to be big auction.

“There will be plenty of turkeys, geese, Hamburgs, plenty of pekins and pit game,” he said.

“We also have a few different breeds of waterfowl and some peacocks.”

Buyers can register from 8am, with the auction at 9.
