Fines for clubs in aftermath of all-in brawl at football

FOOTBALL: The Warwick Wolves and St Albans clubs have been fined $1000 each in the aftermath of the all-in brawl at half-time in a game at Queens Park, Warwick, a fortnight ago.

The premier division game was called off by the referee after the brawl.

Both clubs were asked to make written statements to Football Queensland South West and the clubs were given notification of the fines today.

In a statement, Football Queensland officials said both clubs had a right to appeal, which if they choose to execute, would need to be received in writing by Football Queensland within seven working days of the notification.

No players have been suspended after a incident which happened as the players were leaving the field with Warwick 4-1 up at half-time. The incident was not in full view of the referee.

Warwick has since lost to Gatton before playing some of their best football of the season in a 3-0 loss to leaders Willowburn on Sunday in a game where coach Jon Pearson praised the quality of the Warwick play.

''It was more a 1-0 loss than 3-0 loss," he said.
