Fire burning at Mt Tabor

FIREFIGHTERS have contained a grass fire that burnt out about 20 acres of property north of Mt Tabor today.

Several rural and urban crews were on the scene, battling the blaze on both sides of a steep ridge backing on to Lonsdale Rd at The Hermitage.

At 12.15pm the fire appeared to be moving east across the ridge in the direction of Lonsdale Rd, fanned by a stiff westerly breeze.

A Lonsdale Rd property was in the vicinity of the fire but was unaffected.

A severe fire weather warning was issued yesterday afternoon for this week with all permitted burn permits put on hold.
