Three in hospital, two serious, following Koumala crash

UPDATE 3PM: IT IS believed a 26-year-old female who was driving one of the cars is in a serious condition and a 50-year-old female, who was a passenger, is in a serious condition at Mackay Base Hospital following the car crash.

A 51-year-old man, who was driving one of the cars, is in a stable condition.

 

UPDATE 1PM: A QUEENSLAND Ambulance Service spokesman said three patients were transported to Mackay Base Hospital after the crash.

He said two had leg injuries, leg pain and left side pain, although no details about the third patients' injuries were available.

However all three were believed to be stable.

 

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services freed two victims in the early hours of this morning after a head-on crash south of Koumala.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the crash happened 1.5km south of Koumala on the Bruce Hwy at about 11.50pm.

One patient was entrapped, and another encapsulated.

The details of the patients and their injuries are not yet known.

The Bruce Hwy was closed to traffic in both directions until about 2am.
