Rural fire crews extinguish 4WD gas tank fire, woman treated

UPDATE: Rural fire crews from Dalveen and urban services from Warwick have extinguished a fire in the gas tank of a Nissan Patrol on the New England Hwy.

Three crews got the blaze in the four-wheel-drive under control about 3.15pm, half an hour after it was reported to emergency services.

Paramedics treated a woman for smoke inhalation, but could not confirm if she will be taken to hospital.

The incident occurred 15km outside Warwick in the Southern Downs region.

EARLIER: Fire crews are rushing to the scene where a four-wheel-drive is on fire in the Southern Downs.

Initial reports suggest the car is a Nissan Patrol, located outside Dalveen on the New England Hwy, south of Warwick.

There were reports of explosions at the scene, with numerous Triple Zero calls made by members of the public. 

Emergency services are en route to the scene.
