Fire destroys family's home on Darling Downs
UPDATE: Dalby resident Cynthia Ingram ran onto the street when she saw her neighbour's house in flames early this morning.
A home on Drury St caught fire just before 3am and was fully engulfed before Dalby fire crews arrived.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Dalby fire captain Ian Tuppack said the cause of the fire was unknown.
"We haven't seen the inside at this stage but we'd say it's a full loss of the house," he said.
Miss Ingram said she couldn't believe what had happened.
"I feel really bad for the family, especially because they have little children," she said.
"Everything they owned was in that house."
EARLIER: A Dalby family is without a home today after their house was extensively damaged by fire early this morning.
Police and fire crews were called to the blaze at 5 Drury St, Dalby, about 2.45am and arrived to find the house fully engulfed by fire.
A Dalby police spokesman said the family of mother and father and four children had escaped the blaze unharmed.
The spokesman said the family had gone to bed about 9.30pm Tuesday and had woken to the smell of smoke about 2.30am.
Although the site remained a crime scene this morning as investigators tried to ascertain the cause of the blaze, the police spokesman said the fire was not considered suspicious at this stage.
