Youth Weeks fire up in Warwick tonight

TONIGHT will get a whole lot more awesome when the Warwick Showgrounds transform into a laser skirmish battleground for National Youth Week.

Community engagement officer for headspace Warwick, Wendy Cochrane said those who hadn't played laser skirmish at night before, hadn't lived.

"It's completely amazing, you will discover the sneaky assassin inside you - or the smiling assassin really, because it's almost impossible to stop laughing, but you do have to try to be silent so you don't give away your position," Ms Cochrane said.

"Last year I found myself in some low bushes outside the showground offices for about 10 minutes, crouching in wait for some unlucky players to come by.

"When your target pulls the trigger on their gun, a little red light comes on so you can see where they are and can take them out of the game, so much fun.

"The area we play in covers about a quarter of the showgrounds so there is heaps of space to be stealthy and strategic."

Players need to phone 4661 1999 to register prior to the event and there are only 100 spaces this year so get in quick.

The first game is from 6pm-7.30pm and costs $20, or buy two games and go crazy till 9pm for only $30.

Tonight's event is open to those aged between 12 and 25.
